Ingredients

Cake Batter

  • 3 cups Sugar
  • 3 sticks Butters, softened
  • 5 Eggs
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup Cocoa Powder
  • 3 oz. unsweetened Chocolate, melted
  • cups Buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract

Buttermilk Frosting

  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Butter
Instructions

Cake Batter

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F
  2. Cream together sugar and butter.
  3. Add eggs and mix well.
  4. Sift flour 3 times and add gradually.
  5. Add cocoa powder, melted chocolate, buttermilk, and vanilla. Mix thoroughly.
  6. Butter a bundt or angel cake tube pan and pour the batter in. Bake for about 1hr and 15 min or 20 min.

Buttermilk Frosting

  1. While cake is cooling, add all ingredients to a sauce pan on medium heat.
  2. Stir constantly until mixture reaches 230°F soft ball stage.
  3. Remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes.
  4. Beat mixture until it begins to thicken.
  5. Pour onto cool cake.
